Homegroup Networking. Works, then stops working until I reboot.
Hi, I have just recreated my homegroup (I have 3 computers connected, one is a desktop with Win7 Pro 32, another desktop with Win7 Home P 32, and a laptop with Win7 Home P 64).
The issue I am trying to solve is the fact that when I create a homegroup I can see, access all the shared folders. Then if one computer sleeps or hibernate this computer can see the other computers but I get the message "windows cannot access..." and
says there is a problems with the Network. Again, I can see the computer. When I run "diagnose" it detects the computer but still, it doesn't allow me to contact the shared folder and says "windows cannot access...".
This problem is driving me crazy. I read homegroup is quite straightforward and I am spending a lot of time to troubeshoot it.
have you experience something like that? Any learnings to share? Thank you.

Hi,
Does this symptom occur on each Windows 7 machine or certain one?
To troubleshoot the issue, I suggest you try the following steps.
1. Temporarily disable firewall on the problematic machine and upgrade NIC driver for a test.
2. Disable Saving Power function on NIC device.
a. Click
Start, right click Computer and choose
Properties.
b. Click
Device Manager.
c. Navigate to NIC device, right click it and choose
Properties.
d. Choose
Power Management tab.
e. Please uncheck
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
f. Restart the computer and test this issue again.
If the issue persists, please capture the error message and
upload it here for research.
Thanks,
Novak
