Homegroup File transfer issue between Win7 (32bit) and win7 (64bit)
Hi, I have recently updated my windows from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate on 2 machines. There will be 3 machines that I will mention to illustrate my issue. A) My Machine (Win7 64bit) B) My Brother's Machine (Win7 32bit) C) Laptop (Vista) We had no issues with transfering files between our computers until a few hrs ago. Now, if i want to transfer files between Computer B to Computer A, there is a problem. This problem ONLY occurs if I Am TAKING a file from Computer B and moving it to Computer A. So if i wanted to transfer same file from B to C, it would give no problem what so ever. So to Summarize, File from A to B Works. File from A to C works File from B to C works File from B to A Doesn't work. To explain what i mean by Doesn't work, is if i make the transfer panel show more details, it shows me that it is trying to Calculate the time to transfer while showing me 0 Kb/sec. When i cancel it, it doesn't close the transfer panel, and instead, shows me few 100 KB/Sec and just stays. At this point, I can no longer view any web page at all. I am forced to reboot to make my network connection work. This only happens in Machine B. If any one has any idea, please advise. Any help is greatly appreciated. X More info: If i try to delete files in Computer A from B (through network) it does it just fine. I can also create a file or folder from Computer B in computer A. I could transfer a Shortcut of any file from B to A. But the moment it requires to calculate the transfer time, it gives problem.

What is the error message? On the computer A, disable the Password Protected Sharing, and give Guest account correct permissions in both share and NTFS permissions. Make sure that Guest account has full control access. If the issue persists, temporary disable firewall and let us know the result. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
