Homegroup File sharing between 2 Win 7 RC pc's having problems
Have 2 computers running Win 7 RC (one using x64, the other x86). Homegroup setup fine, seems to work OK on small size files. But on large files (500mb+) the transfer will stall anywhere from 50-75% of the way, then give me a message about the Homegroup computer not being available. This happens no matter which computer I start the transfer from. I did get 1 BSOD on the x64 machine but Windows said it couldn't open the .dmp file. Rebooting the computer allows the Homegroup to work again. So far in 10 attempts to transfer large files 8 of the 10 have failed to complete. 7 RC x64 machine- Biostar TA790GX-128M mobo (latest BIOS, latest RTL8111C nic driver from Realtek) AMD Phenom II X3-720 2.8Ghz tri-core 8Gb DDR2-800 BFG GeForce 9800GTX+ OC 1Gb video WD 640Gb SATA II HD 7 RC x64 fully updated 7RC x86 machine- Biostar K8NHA Grand nForce 3 250 Gb chipset board (using last available BIOS update, NIC using MS driver from 7 RC) AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4Ghz 2Gb ram MSI GeForce 7600GT 512mb AGP video WD 340Gb IDE HD 7 RC fully updated Networked through a Linksys WRT54G vr5 (latest available firmware 8/2008) I do realize the nForce 3 board is a bit older but I had no network problems when running Vista on both. I also have a new router coming that has Gb LAN (as both computers have GB NICs). Not sure if that will make any difference. Sam
