Home network sharing
Trust can be a problem with home networking. Both computers should be in the same workgroup. The same user names should be entered in both computers and you should use the same passwords for those user names. If you turn on sharing, you can give full rights for all authenticated users. And yes, you do have to authenticate. In sharing, on the Vista computer, you have to right click on the folderopen propertiesSharing tabAdvanced sharingpermissionsAllow full control for that userhit okThis will work on Vista Business and above.Vista Home and Premium, the home networking has issues. On Home and Premium, so far, I have not been able to share them adequately.Although, if the other computer is xp pro, you can pick up files from it, but it can not see you.

Funny, I have Home Premium on my laptop, Ultimate on my desktop and an XP Pro on another laptop at home. Don't need to add each user to allow access, all systems see each other and no need to authenticate.I'm really surprised at the lack of ability on most users to recognize their errors and then post that nothing works here. It's really simple, set the share up and set permissions for everyone. Turn off Password Protection and set it up as a Home Private network and voilla, all done! Of course make sure they are on the same workgroup, but even then, you can still see them in the network finder.Geesh
