Can I upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 Beta which is Free Version right now?

There is no "FREE" SOME PC vendors offer a free upgrade when you BUY the system and upgrade package together. like getting a free drink with a $ 6.00 taco.Beta is gone now, the folks still running beta from until march 1 I think then it shuts down.

You can upgrade Vista to the Win7 RC (release candidate), but there are problems:1) It hasn't been available for public download from Microsoft for months. (It's still OK to install it if you can get a copy from a friend or by other legitimate means.)2) Microsoft hasn't been handing out RC activation keys since 21 October 2009. (The keys have been published on the Web, though. There may have been as few as 16 distinct keys.)3) The RC starts shutting down the PC every couple of hours on 1 March. On 1 June, it ceases operating altogether. I know of no fix for that that wouldn't involve serious hackery. Run the Upgrade Advisor to verify that the system you want it for can support Win7. (It's not a great utility, but it helps.) If it can, then buy the OS. If you want to save some money, and you have a qualifying OS on hand (XP or Vista), then get the upgrade version. Microsoft made working with an upgrade version less restrictive than with Vista, although it's more constrained than the XP upgrade version.
