HomeGroup Can't Join
I have two computers both with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Both have McAfee Security Suite installed. I can see both computers on the network. I can create a homegroup on one and then the other sees it. When I attempt to join it waits for a few minutes and then tells me that it can't create the homegroup with no more detail. When running the troubleshooter on both computers they do nothing but inform me that I have a 3rd party firewall installed. I have tried going into McAfee and turning off the firewall on both machines (Windows still says that McAfee still has control though) and this made no difference. I have Ipv6 turned on on both machines. The second is a laptop but I turned off the wireless and tried connecting via LAN I tried synching the times and they both are synced to time.windows.com (although visibly they don't seem to be in sync) I have gone into McAfee and added two new System Services through the firewall: Name: p2psvc Category: TCP:3587 UDP: Standard Name: pnrpsvc Category: TCP: UDP:3540 Standard On both machines and this makes no difference I have looked ta the logs through the event viewer and the only thing that maybe connected is : Event Viewer\Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\HomeGroup Control Panel\ - -- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-HomeGroup-ControlPanel" Guid="{134EA407-755D-4A93-B8A6-F290CD155023}" /> <EventID>5004</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2010-02-04T11:32:12.843530700Z" /> <EventRecordID>5</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="3628" ThreadID="9288" /> <Channel>Microsoft-Windows-HomeGroup Control Panel/Operational</Channel> <Computer>xxx</Computer> <Security UserID="xxx" /> </System> - <EventData> <Data Name="Error">???</Data> </EventData> </Event> I really am starting to lose patience with this as it supposed to be easy, but you get no feedback as to what the problem is at all Anyone with some new ideas?
