I am having an issue with my network on my acer laptop with windows 7. My computer's taskbar says that I'm connected to the internet but shows i have a connection error. I go to network and sharing and it shows that I am not connected to any network but i can access the internet. I go to the connection map and it tells me to change my network type in order to see any connection but i don't have the option because i'm "NOT CONNECTED" to a network. what do I do? I need an expert.

You can disable and re-enable the network adapter, after that try again. You could also restart your computer and try again. Hope this helps. dawooddoe Home Network & Wireless Network Help

Hi, I would like to know when the issue occurred? If the issue didn't occur before, you can perform a system restore to a good point. If it doesn't work, I suggest referring to following methods to troubleshoot the issue. 1. http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2009/06/19/missing-network-map-under-network-and-sharing-center-in-windows-vista-or-windows-server-2008.aspx Note: it also applies to Windows 7. 2. Remove and reinstall the network adapter driver. If there is a new version of the driver from manufacture's site, update it. 3. Booting into Safe Mode with networking to check the result. If the issue persists in Safe Mode, please refer to the following steps to add the permission to Local Service. a. Right Click on Computer -> Manage b. Under the System Tools section, double click on Local Users and Groups c. Click Groups -> Right Click on Administrators -> Add to group -> Add -> Advanced -> Find now -> Double Click on Local Service -> Click Ok d. Close all the windows reboot the computer and check the status 4. When booting into Normal Mode, verify if the following service is running properly. Check Network Location Awareness service ---------------------------------------- a. Click Start, type Services.msc in Search bar, and then press Enter. b. In the right pane, double-click Network Location Awareness. c. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, click Apply, click Start, and then click OK. d. Restart the computer. 5. Create a new user account to check the result.
