High CPU load causes WiFi connection to drop out
Everytime I open up a game or some other program that utilize my dualcore processors up to 100% for a period of 10 seconds atleast, my WiFi connection gets disconnected. For example from a game viewpoint, logging in doesn't work since my connection falls off from the increased processor usage. If however I alt-tab out of the game (minimizing it) after entering credentials, the game will not eat up as much raw processing power and I am let online - most of the time. Still I suffer alot lagspikes while playing - the connection drops or nearly drops at times (especially loading screens or highly populated areas). Sometimes the lagspikes are severe enough that the connection totally drops and I have to relog again. I can circumvent this by only setting affinity of the other processor core for any game - and the disconnects never happend, but it really is far from optimum to run games with half the processing power available. Would there be any way to give wireless higher affinity? Couldn't find anything relevant from task managers processes atleast - and that would have been easy fix aswell.

This kind of issues can be caused by incompatible anti-virus or incorrect anti-virus settings. Please temporary disable or uninstall the security programs and check the result again. If the issue persists, please upgrade the network adapter driver. I suggest you download the latest Windows 7 compatible driver, and remove the existed driver from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features. Then reinstall the driver with the latest download. If you are using a third party wireless connection management software, I suggest you remove it, create new connection with the Windows 7 build-in wizard. If the issue still occurs, please disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

Disabled all services and startup items except for Microsoft ones (and NVidia in order to have functionin graphics). This didn't affect the issue at all sadly. :( Another forum where I wrote about this had 1 reply, a guy saying that if my card is Rev.B with Atheros chipshet, it's most likely the cause since he had same problems. He told me that I should go forward and purchase a better WiFi PCI card - since everything based on atheros are sh*t. I checked and it's Rev. B. UAC Was already of aswell btw. Also tried to reinstall drivers after trying twice with a clean boot, this didn't change the situation at all. I'm feeling like being in a deadeand at the moment, hesitant to just go buy new hardware on a whim, but I really don't know what else I could.. don't want to go back to Vista either.

Does the manufacturer indicate that this device is compatible with Windows 7? If not there should be compatibility issues. Did the issue occur after you installed the system? You may try a parallel installation (install a test system on another partition on your computer). If the issue still occurs in the brand new system, you may need to replace the adapter.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Yes, latest Windows 7 drivers are less than a month old, second revision for the OS already. I cannot recall this ever occuring on Ubuntu (version Karmic Koala, game thru Wine).
