Hidding Windows Store App from domiain user

Hi Team,

I have a scenario wherein windows store need to be accessed from within any deeplinked application but should not be available for users as a direct application. We want it to be hidden from all users in domain . Is there any way/script that can help us in achieving it? Don't want to uninstall the windows store app itself and I believe that is not possible anyway so hiding windows store app from start screen, taskbar should be fine and it should not be available if user search for it using windows 8.1 search. Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

Thanks for sharing the article. I went through this before. Looks like it just don't pin the icon to taskbar, but it doesn't says that windows store will not be available to users, i believe users will able to search it using windows search . I am looking for some suggestion wherein it will hide the menu and even on search it should not be available or visible to end user. Any further suggestion or policy that could help pls. thanks.

Hello,

Just tested with my workstation. Store can be blocked by "Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Store\Turn off the Store application"

Hi Slava,

Thanks a lot but situation is I can't block the store entirely since we have company stroe with deep linked application that points to windows store, if I block the store completely, all applications will fail in company store application. So looking for a way where we can hide the windows store icon from search, taskbar, start screen tiles so that users will not able to open it proactively. so hidden but enabled, not sure if this is possible.

As far as I know you have only 2 official options. Disable Store completely or hide it from taskbar. Since it is system component you can't hide it from search as well as renaming it. As result your "smart" users will be able to get it anyway. I am not sure about any 3rd party solutions but I believe changing it via any tools is not supported by MS.
