1. Power-cycle the cable/dsl modem and router (if you have a router). a. Unplug the modem. b. Unplug the router. c. Wait 30 seconds. d. Plug in the modem - wait until all the lights have come on and are the way they should be. e. Plug in the router. Test now. If still slow, test with another computer if possible. If the other computer is also slow, call your Internet Service Provider. If the other computer is fast but your computer is slow, you know the problem is local to your computer. At that point start with the basics: 2. The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?
