Help required with Issue with IE8 and roaming profile.
I have recently installed some new PC's with Windows 7 Pro onto a Windows SBS 2003 domain, Two different PC's on two different occasions have had the same issue!! When you open IE8, then close it, the Icons on the desktop become unresponsive (as if they are not there, or greyed out)? The machines are working off roaming profiles! There is also an issue whereby one of the machines intermittently looses the desktop shortcuts? Please advise if you have heard of such issues before and if there is a fix for this.

Hello Eddyjo, Thanks for your post. The issue is a little complex so we need some steps to find the root cause. Please use the following steps: 1. During the Internet Explorer 8 is started and closed, please open Windows Task Manager and check the information under: a. If the high CPU or high memory occurs; b. If the application and process display correctly during the period. (no duplicated or unknown ones). 2. If the Step 1 get a normal result, please clean boot your computer and check if the issue persists. 3. It is recommended to fully scan your computer for possible virus or malware. 4. If the steps above don’t fix the issue, please create a new test user in the domain (or local one if the Active Directory domain is not used), using roaming profile as other users. Then, logon the problematic client with this new user, let us know if the issue occurs in this case. Thanks for your cooperation. Best regards, Miya Yao

Thanks for your quick reply. I have discovered that the problem is caused by the Adobe PDF Link Helper add-in. When I disable this Add-in using Mnage Add-ins in IE8 the problem goes away and all works normally.
