Help : Lync2010 Monitoring Server Query

Hello Team

My test environment Lync 2010 (2 FE server, 1 MONITORING AND ARCHIVING (BOTH ON SAME BOX aand SQL INSATNACE FOR BOTH MONITORING AND ARCHIVING in the same Server )  , 1 SQL Server , 1 EX2010 , 1 DC) - it is Lync 2010 Ent Pool

so I would like to take the failure report today and what I did is , I disabled the network card in 1st FE server  for about 4 to 5 hours , so current active IM connection were disconnected and connected via 2nd FE server in few min or seconds....whatever

Next, I opened Lync 2010 Control panel in the second FE server, and View Monitoring Server Reports and Opened Top Failures Report and it was noting showing in terms of the 1st FE server N/w disconnection / outage . I would like know it is not captured

or

Am I doing anything Wrong.? In which report I can determined the outage related to server, network or SQL somtehing

Your timely help is much appreciated

I don't believe the reports collect that sort of data. The are focused more around call records and quality not infrastructure.

You should use a server monitoring tool such as PRTG to notify of a server/service outage.

I Agree with Andrew,

but whenever to peer to peer IM is disconnected due to one of the FE or SQL / ANY LYNC SERVER OUTAGE.

what kind of report we can determine from LYNC MONITIORING server ROLE

Not 100% sure what you would see in that case. It's likely you will see the failed call, but I don't think it will specifically tell you that a server went down. There will be a reason code, just not sure what it will be in this case. You should be able to test by pointing a Lync client directly to a specific FE, making the call, then shutting down that FE.

All right Andrew....

Last query about the monitoring server role,  is there particular  any time schedule is available in this role to monitor the lync activities,  or it can keep monitor the server instantly

Hi,

If you use the Monitoring Dashboard to keep track of Lync Server activity, it can display reports going back 6 months. Reports are NOT deleted after 6 months they just arent shown in the Dashboard.
