Help/Advice on Answer files for W7
Dear Internetlad, The best resource is to download the Windows' Automated Instalation Kit (commonly known as AIK) from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5753. It's not only a great source of information, but also has a very complete GUI that will help you create and edit the answer files with drag-drop capabilities and full information on each setting, it will even validate that they are valid. Once you download it you might want to take a look at the "Unattended Windows Setup Reference" Help file. Best Regards, Marianok

I must admit that it is a painful process J But for Vista/W7/W2008 the W-AIK is really good in the sense that the GUI will give you the information you are asking for allowing you to see each node and view what setting are available, and what they do. For each setting you can see what it does, where to apply it and so on. But if you just want to have the information, the your best resource is MS itself for example, for this is the link for windows 7 reference http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff699026(v=ws.10).aspx ----------------- Best Regards, Marianok Disclaimer: While I do my best to make sure everything I post is accurate and safe, Im certainly not perfect so all this information is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. Hello! What i'm specifically looking to do is finding an automated way of moving all user (my xxxx) folders to a second partition that is created during the install. If also possible there are some other options i'd like to change, specifically some options in the IE properties, Mouse properties and Folder properties. I've already created a simple answer file and got it working, however i'm looking for any resources to look over what else can be done with answer files, they are powerful tools and i'd like to know more about them. If you can specifically point out how to accomplish what i'm looking to do, that would be great as well, but i'd still like to hear about the more advanced resources if possible. Thanks for your time!

Much appreciated. I've already installed the OPK on this machine, is there any reason to uninstall it and install the AIK? I dabbled a bit with the help files, but I find it rather difficult to traverse the walls of text that are thrown in my face, making it hard to focus on what I specifically am looking to do. Is there a resource more gently laid out, maybe a table with explinations of commands on one side and the commands on the other? Either way, i'll probably take a look at the resources provided. Thank you!
