Help! Serious problem with windows 7 update! Crashing and restarting
Since a windows update that I got about a week or two ago, my computer entered an infinite loop of BSOD and restarting itself. The only way I could get out of the loop is with safe mode. I couldn't get the other safe mode options like safe mode with command prompt or safe mode with networking. I did system restore and it failed. I even did startup repair, and it didn't work! I scanned for affected programs and drivers and it said none detected. The update was from 6/23/10. It was critical update. Here's some info on the blue screen: OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Stop: 0x0000000D1 BCP1: 0000000000000010 BCP2: 0000000000000002 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: FFFFF8800143A5D6 BCCode: d1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Service Pack: 0_0 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\070110-32916-01.dmp C:\Users\Remote\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-53383-0.sysdata.xml This is on my laptop btw, I'm posting from a different computer.

Hi Xerowraith, BCCode: D1 0x000000D1 Cause: A driver tried to access an address that is pageable (or that is completely invalid) while the IRQL was too high. The display card driver mainly causes this kind of issue. However, BIOS, low level chipset drivers and antivirus/antispyway/security programs can also cause this. Please try the following suggestions and see if the issue can be resolved: 1. Click the Start Button, type Device Manager in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary. 2. Double click to expand the Display adapters. 3. Right click the display card and click "Properties". 4. Click the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver". If the issue persists, reinstall the display card by the steps below: 1. Click the Start Button, type Device Manager in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary. 2. Double click to expand the Display adapters. 3. Right click the display card and click "Uninstall". 4. Restart the computer. Also, please go to Windows Update and check the update history to see which update is causing this issue. If the issue persists, please understand that to solid troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump and analyze the related source code if needed. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. I'd like to recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers. In the meantime, you can refer to the suggestions below to perform some troubleshooting to see if the culprit can be found. Please unplug all unnecessary devices and then perform the steps below: 1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties. 4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Also, you can analyze the small memory dump files yourself. For more information about how to do this, please refer to this knowledge base (KB) article: How to read the small memory dump files that Windows creates for debugging.
