Help! What does this mean! Unicode UTF-8
I wanted to send an e-mail to a friend in Turkey whose English is very weak. I used a translation service which allows me to say what I want in English and it translates it into Turkish. I then have the option to send it in an e-mail. There is an option to send it via my hotmail account or their server. When I tried to send it a message informed me that it was copied to clipboard and I should press ctrl-V to paste it into the box. I'm inexperienced and I have no idea what it's going on about! Ctrl, yes, but -V?It also says the text is Turkish so I should set the encoding of my e-mail to Turkish or unicode UTF-8. Again, I'm afraid I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.I tried sending it using their server, where a box popped up asking for the address, I entered it, it displayed the whole message and where it was going and said 'done' at the bottom, but I don't think it went. I tried sending a message to myself using that method, but I didn't receive it.I would be grateful for any help. Thank you. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Ctrl+V is the standard keyboard shortcut for Paste, just like Ctrl+C is the keyboard shortcut for Copy and Ctrl+X is the keyboard shortcut for Cut.What mail client are you using? How to chose UTF-8 encoding depends completely on what mail client you use.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. Thanks Brian. But I have pressed Ctrl+V till I am blue in the face and nothing has happened. My message is nowhere to be seen. I really wanted to send it so I find it incredibly frustrating.I thought the translation service with the option to send my finished text by e-mail was excellent. I thought it would be straightforward, but it seems not, otherwise my text would be displayed and duly sent!I am trying to send it via my Windows hotmail account. Thanks again for the reply, though I'm no further forward. Unfortunately computer skills is not one of my strengths!Christine.

Before you can paste something, you must copy it first. Select the characters you want to include so they are highlighted in blue. Then either press Ctrl+C or right-click the selection and choose Copy to copy the selection. Open the new mail message and position the cursor in the body. Press Ctrl+V or right-click the body field and select Paste to paste the selection to the body field.Since you are using Hotmail online via a web browser, it's best to ask in the Windows Live Solution Center's Hotmail Portal. To make sure you're using UTF-8 encoding in Internet Explorer, click Page>Encoding and select UTF-8Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. Thank you again, Brian.I have discovered I already have encoding set to UTF-8, but I must confess the e-mail I was trying to send is still a puzzle! It appears to be in limbo somewhere. My screen says it's on clipboard, i.e. it isn't visible. It says to paste it, but as you point out, I have to copy it before I can paste it and it isn't visible or accessible in any way, so how I am supposed to select and highlight any characters!I will look in the hotmail portal as you suggested, but I've a feeling that this one will run and run!Sorry for being an ignoramus! Still, we can't all be good at everything. My own talents are good spelling and a flair for languages! Christine

ChristineIf something ("my screen") says that the material is on the clipboard, then youalready copied it (or at least, you copied something). There are two ways to check what's on the clipboard:1. Open Notepad and paste (use either CTRL+V or Edit > Paste). If the "Paste" function on the Edit menu is greyed-out, then there is nothing on the clipboard.2. Start > Run > Clipbrd.exe > OK This will open the Clipboard Viewer to show what's there. And forgive me if this is obvious, but CTRL+V (sometimes written CTRL-V) means that you press the CTRL key and the V key simultaneously. Neither the plus key nor the minus key is pressed.
