Having touble getting to the Task Manager
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I can't find the task manager anywhere. I really need to get to it to remove a virus from my other computer.I've tried the following:- Right-clicking on an empty area of Task Bar and choosing Task Manager (it's faded out; I can't click on it)- Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del to get it (it doesn't show at all)- Pressing Shift + Ctrl + Escape. (does nothing)I've also heard of using Start -> Run, but in my Start menu there is no run option.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,First of all, according to your description, if the TaskManager is faded out, it seems that TaskManager has been disabled by some reason(maybe by virus). You can enable TaskManager by following these steps: * Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe * Navigate to the following branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System * In the right-pane, delete the value named DisableTaskMgr * Close Regedit.exe For your information : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/why-is-task-manager-disabled/ If the spyware cannot be removed by your Anti-virus Software, you should run Safe Mode as a test. Refer to: How do I remove a computer virus?: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/How-do-I-remove-a-computer-virus It can also work in Windows 7. You can easily show the Run… command on the start menu or just use shortcut “Win+R”. To add the Run command to the Start menu 1. Right-click the Start button , click Properties 2. Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.3. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, scroll through the list of options to find the Run command check box, select it, click OK, and then click OK again. Good luck!
