Having problems where my PC locks up sparodically for no apparent reason.
I run Win XP Home and have done successfully for the last 5 yrs. Have not made any changes or applied any updates prior to fault appearing.System can lock up at any time but more so after midday (??). Can be using any application. I have to perform a hard reset to reboot and recover. Have tried system restore to no avail.Even stranger - If I boot my PC into safe mode selection screen and select "debug" mode, the system restarts and works absolutely fine. When I go back to normal boot, it will lock up guaranteed.1 person needs an answerI do too

My PC use to do that aswell, I decided it was time to do a malware scan so I got Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and did a quick scan and it found like 70+ infections so I deleted them all, rebooted and since then the computer works fine.

Thanks both...Sorry for very late response but I didn't get a notification of a reply and whilst logging another issue, I saw your replies... Much appreciated...!My Desktop has since died (my fault for not checking for your responses) and I have since rebuilt and reinstalled XP Home. I have taken the product key from my base unit and I'm being told that its invalid...??!!??I have logged this as an issue as the answer is to "photograph" the product key sticker and FAX it to MS in the States...! I've logged this on Friday 12th as XP Home - Rebuild - Invalid Product Code under the Install, Upgrade and Activate Forum...?
