Hi, First, I would like to confirm whether the Windows 7 machine is in a domain or a workgroup. For your reference, please perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Please connect Internet via wired cable instead of Wireless connection for a test. Can you access Internet quicker via wired cable? 2. Assure the Windows 7 machine is near to AP (Wireless Router) and the Wireless signal is strength. 3. Replace another machine which connected Internet via wireless to check the result. 4. Upgrade the router firmware and Wireless adapter driver. Please go to Device Manager, right click your hardware device in the list and select Update Driver Software; then click Search automatically for updated driver software. Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers. Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error. Alternatively, you can also download the compatible NIC driver from the manufacturer website directly. 5. Restart the computer and boot in Safe Mode with Networking for a test. What's the result? If the issue persists, please capture the error message and upload it to Skydrive (www.skydrive.live.com), and then share the link to me for research. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak,My computer is setup as a public workgroup...I am not able to hook this computer up via wired cable because my room is across the driveway from the office where i connect to there router and dsl...I was able to check for updated drivers and i have all the latest drivers...one thing i have a question though...when i install wireless adapter (linksys WUSB54GSC) i installed using software compatability utility because there is no windows 7 RC 64 bit driver...I picked Vista settings to install...then pluged in the adapter...just wanted to know if this was the proper way to install...What test do i need to run to give you the info...Name[00000024] Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster ver.2Adapter Type Ethernet 802.3Product Type Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster ver.2Installed YesPNP Device ID USB\VID_1737&PID_0075\00Last Reset 10/14/2009 2:37 AMIndex 24Service Name dhdusbIP Address 192.168.2.18, fe80::6dc8:802e:578a:712IP Subnet 255.255.255.0, 64Default IP Gateway 192.168.2.1DHCP Enabled YesDHCP Server 192.168.2.1DHCP Lease Expires 10/17/2009 3:17 AMDHCP Lease Obtained 10/14/2009 3:17 AMMAC Address 00:23:69:E3:DE:D2Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\wusb54gscv2_amd64.sys (, 247.99 KB (253,944 bytes), 10/13/2009 5:24 AM)IPv6 connectivity - no internet access......settings are to automaticIPv6 def gateway - is blankDNS Server - is blankwhen i first log on my signal strength is 4 bars and after minute it drops to 2 bars
October 15th, 2009 5:46am

This issue can occur if the signal strength is too low. Please move the PC near the Wireless AP for a test. To do this, we can make sure the strength is enough and check whether the signal is the cause or not. Thanks,Novak

I'm having the same problems with ipv6. My netbook is siting beside the router and I can access the home network. When i conekt my old laptop with vista it's no problems conekting to the internet, when i conekt a lan cable to the netbook there is no problems. Its only when i try to conekt wireless with the netbook that it doesn't work. I have access to the router and are able to log on to it as an admin but cant find anything wrong with the settings. The router is a Netgear WNDR3700 if thats to any help.

what exact wireless network card is in the netbook? does it have the latest driver? what type of wireless security? can you try WPA2-AES? so you set up the 3700 with WPA2-AES and it did not connect? I do not understand what you mean by WPA2-AES **standard**. Do you mean "personal"? Enterprise will not work. WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-AES is two different security standards isnt it? Exactly. I switched to WPA2-AES and the netbook kould not conekt anymore at all. I tried to disable the firewall in windows and turn of the security on the router. This did not help me to conekt my netbook to the web.
June 20th, 2010 12:08am

Please go into the 3700 and change the SSID name on the 2.4 GHz side to something new. Then change the WPA2-AES passkey to something new. Now try connecting with the netbook. DO not turn off security on the router. By the way, the word is spelled connect. I changed the SSID and the passkey. There is nothing different to how the netbook behaves. It cant connect to the web but access to the other computers in my network is no problems. When i trie to use MSN or Skype they cant fing any gateways.
June 20th, 2010 2:45pm

do you have Kapersky AV or another 3rd party AV on this netbook? There have been known issues with some of these and connectivity. MSN or SKYPE are not going to work until you have connectivity. Please open an administrative cmd prompt start menu, programs, accessories, right click the cmd prompt and run as administrative then type or paste in netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt reboot the computer. does anything change? reboot after you have run the command. it does no good unless you run it. try again. you probably typed it incorrectly. The OS is swedish. As i understand firmware v1.0.4.68 is the newest there is. If that is the case the router is all ready uppdated with new firmware.

I'm not sure what to suggest. I have a slightly older ASUS EeePC with the same Atheros NIC. I installed W7 x86 Ultimate on it a long time ago. It works fine with all of my N routers, including a Netgear WNDR3700. Are you able to try somewhere else like an Internet Cafe or at a friends? I'll have to check and see what driver version I have on mine. On Tue, 22 Jun 2010 18:52:43 +0000, sir_n wrote: > > >The OS is swedish. > >As i understand firmware v1.0.4.68 is the newest there is. I tried it with some public networks at the airport and with a wireless internet modem, there were no problems. I haven't tried it with another router in a home network. I'll take the netbook to a friend of mine some day and try it there. Its really odd because there is no problems with any other wireless devise I've got. As long as I add the computer an its MAC address to the routers access list there is usually no problems. This is the first computer with windows 7 I'm trying to use with the router. All the others are Win XP or Vista.

one last thought. can you try changing the name of the 2.4 wireless to something simple like twopointfour and specifying a simple WPA2-AES passphrase like monday123. make sure the network is set to broadcast its SSID. reboot the computer and then to try to set up the new network? can i suggest somthing . try opening your network and sharing centre. by right clicking your connectivity status bars. clicki change adaptor settings, then right click your current connection, view propertys, IN THE NETWORKING, SCROLL down the list of items installed and in use... find your two gateways untick ipv6 and make sure ipv4 is still ticked. if that doesnt work, go back, untick IPv4 and tick IPV6.
