Will I still receive notification for windows 10 upgrade?

Why I ask is that I am not able to install 8.1 update package.

This has been a very frustrating experience.

I made a recovery usb drive for my laptop and decided to erase the drive and reinstall factory os with the usb recovery drive.

After logging in to the os, I looked at windows update and saw that there had been about 10 updates for my os that had already installed.

One of them is part of the 8.1 update package. Then I manually downloaded the 8.1 update package but had trouble getting any of the individual updates to install. All would not install and instead I was presented with a message that the packages were already installed.

After this, I looked again at windows update to see what updates had been installed.  Only one of the updates for the 8.1 update package appeared, while 5 or 6 other packages did not show at all.

I have searched the net for other people with similar problems and notice that I am not the only one.

This laptop was bought new from a big box store about 3 months ago...Hopefully it will be eligible for the windows 10 upgrade.

Any help in figuring out this issue would be greatly appreciated.
