Hardware interrupts using 60-80% of CPU.
My system started slowing down and I could not get my Protools Studio to come up. After much troubleshooting, searching for viruses, malware, and rootkits, the system was clean with no problems ever found. i downloaded process explorer and found the hardware interrupts were using 60-80% of the CPU and I have no idea what causes this. The pid of the process is n/a, private bytes ok, working set 0k, description is Hardware Interrupts. I performed a fresh install of XP 32 bit SP3 after I couldn't solve problem. Problem still exists! HELP!!1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi k3nhall, ·What is the make and model number of the computer?·Do you have any external device connected to the computer? 1. Check if any error codes and error message is listed in event viewer: How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427 2. Check the behavior in safe mode, to boot the computer in safe mode:a. Restart the computer and press and hold F8 key (Press and hold f8 key before the windows logo).b. From the advanced boot option select ‘Safe mode’. 3. Also, I would suggest you to update the motherboard and chipset from the computer manufacturer.
