I have a 1TB external Hard Drive and Recently put a Password on it using a Friends Laptop and went use it  on another machine but will not open. It just sits saying it is waiting to open with Bit locker.

Will I have to use the Same laptop I used to put the password on it??

Another factor is I may not be using the Correct Password as I never wrote it down.

Appreciate if someone could advise of a way to access info on HD

Yes you need to use the same computer when using bitlocker and if you do not have the correct password you will not be able to open the drive

Did you encrypt your external hard drive by using Bitlocker to go? If so, we don't need to use same computer to access it.

During the configuration, you will be prompted to save the recovery key to a file or print the recovery key.

If you forget the password, you can use the recovery key to unlock your Hard drive.

If you lost both of these, we are afraid to say that you will lost your data.

The statement "you need to use the same computer" is wrong. No matter how BL was setup, you can mount the drive anywhere you like using the recovery key. If no TPM is in use, this will even work with the password anywhere you like.

If you don't remember your password, use your recovery key. BL setup forced you to save or print your recovery key, so you will have it.
