Which of those you can delete depends on you and how you use yourcomputer, as well as what your preferences are. > Any other thoughts or solutions?Any help will be greatly appreciated. Others who reply will undoubtedly tell you that you can deleteparticular files, or make something else smaller. My advice to you isentirely different: when your hard drive is almost full, anything thatyou do in the way of deleting files is nothing but a stopgap measure. You can fix the problem today, but it will come back tomorrow. There'sonly one *real* solution to your problem, and that's to buy andinstall a bigger hard drive. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) since 2003 Ken Blake

Well, yes, that would be the perfect solution, but I am flat broke. I would really appreciate if you can tell me if any of the files or programs or whatever they are can be deleted without having an effect on the computer. I do not recall ever using any of them in any way. Thank you.

(e.g. Picture gear). If you are going to check inside the program folders, you will see there that some of these files only occupy MB of spaces and will not greatly affect the storage size. Check it first. " Do not delete files inside the program folders " as they will either corrupt some necessary files that would be associated with the Operating system. Go to c:\windows\programs and check out the folder of these which you are asking to uninstall and surely you'll see that they are only MB of spaces.

The only one that looks like I might have installed is Picture Gear, the rest, I am pretty sure that I did not. I know they are only a few MB, but I need all the help that I can get because my machine is running slow. I am asking about these because I do not know if removing them will affect something else. Thank you.

MS Office XP Professional is the Office Suite of Word, Access,Excel, Outlook, etc - it's probably the largest of the installs you have, but most likely to be used.If you're SURE you don't use any of them, then you can uninstall it - but you will lose the ability to open of the file types that are associated withthem. Make sure before uninstalling that you have the Product Key and the installation disks in a safe place If you don't know the Product Key, then download and install Belarc Advisor run it, and it will tell you a LOT aboutyour system, including most license keys. -- Noel Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC

Noel, I do not have any of the discs for any of the programs, I do not even know what those programs do. I guess I could delete everything BUT MS Office Professional, right?

I guessI could delete everything BUT MS Office Professional, right?> Let's work through the list, shall we?first - a question... Are you on dialup, or do you have an ADSL connection (or cable or what?)That's relevant for 'Modem Helper' and 'Modem on Hold' - chances are that you don't need them unless you're on a conventional dialup modem, rather than broadband. Quickstores Toolbar - get rid of it SoundMax is part of teh driver system for your sound device (If you don't use the sound from your PC, you can uninstall it) True Switch Wizard for AT&T members Look here to see what it is - then you can decide http://www.trueswitch.com/ns/faq/help_support_start.htm Viewpoint Media Player - I'd get rid of it if it were on my machine - but your choice may be differenthttp://www.viewpoint.com/technologies/viewpoint-media-player.shtml Interactual Player - again, I have no use for it, and any decent DVD that needs it will have it available anyhow.- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterActual_Player Picture Gear appears to be an application to get the pictures off your Sony Camera - if you don't need it, get rid. SmartSound Quicktracks - this is an odd one! - this presupposes that you have Premiers Elements on your PC (which is a *huge* program!) http://www.smartsound.com/premiere/index.html If you've not used the service, then I'd get rid. None of these programs are big, and you might even see an initial drop in free space when uninstalling as System Restore will archive parts of the programs (If it hasn't already been switched off by the low disk space). I suspect that either way, you're going to have to look elsewhere for major space gains. A few details about your PC may help - what disk size and what other installed programs to start with! -- Noel Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC

I do not have Premiere Elements (is it from Adobe? I think I deleted it some time ago) , how about deleting "Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2.0 - ENU"? and the same but ending in 2.0 - Runtime?

That's a possible, certainly - or both! you can easily download either if you find that something complains. -- Noel Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC
