Hard Drive failure
I installed W7 and now the computer keeps reporting that the hard drive is going to fail and that I need to backup file. I have never had an issue before on the computer and when I installed the software it reported that I could have a problem with the hard drive. What is going on. This is a backup laptop and I have no file on the computer so not a big deal but is there a fix for the problem.

This is, most likely, what Windows is telling you: an impending hard drive failure. Windows is simply reporting to you the SMART data that the drive is feeding it.The warning that Windows is giving is notice that you should back up any and all user data that you have, so that you're prepared for a HDD replacement. You can verify this by downloading the diagnostic software from your HDD manufacturer, or by installing Speedfan (which can also display the SMART data from most any HDD.)HTH,Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
