Hard Drive Partitions Unable to delete?
I am getting so confused, when i pull up windows 7 disk management i see DISK 0: 698GB 1.system reserve(healthy) 100MB, 2. C: 348GB healthy (system, boot, page etc) this is where my os is installed, and next is 3.logical drive 336.14 gb then a 14.3gb part of another primary partition no name or anything, when i try to delete the logical i get an error stating that i need to restart computer , or restart disk management if refresh action does not work, everytime this happens. I ran cmd> Diskpart and select disk 0 > list partitions and it shows Microsoft DiskPart version 6.1.7600 Copyright (C) 1999-2008 Microsoft Corporation Partition ### Type Size Offset ------------- ---------------- ------- ------- Partition 1 Primary 100 MB 1024 KB Partition 2 Primary 348 GB 101 MB Partition 0 Extended 350 GB 348 GB Partition 3 Logical 336 GB 348 GB Partition 4 Logical 14 GB 684 gb I am unable to delete either logical or extended in this, i need a little help any ideas?

The assumption goes here that you tried the computer management console to delete and it did not work. Try deleting the files first from that logical drive. Maybe you need to try knoppix linux live CD to delete the partition. Perhaps your Windows OS is locking the partition because there are some files that get activated at start up. For example if you have two windows installations on different partitions and you try to delete one of the widows folders, usually the one is not running at that moment. it doesn't work. I think you're experiencing a similar issue. Therefore you have to use another OS to delete your partition. Knoppix, or Ubuntu life. Careful on what you're doing because you could easily mess up the other partitions. Good Luck. Please do not forget to select the best answer if it helps you! The Computer Manual. also i forgot to include how this happened, i installed Ubuntu to the partition in question then formatted and was trying to extend my current partition size and it wouldn't let me so i deleted the partition which previously contained Ubuntu and tried a boot cd, got the grub error because i forgot to change which os should be booted on start up so i put in win 7 install disk and was just going to install another win 7 and then it error-ed out after first start up and does not work. it still shows up as windows 7 (doesnt work) and windows 7 recovery (works this is my current os) in boot menu when i restart computer.

You should burn your recovery DVDs You need a partition editor that is loaded of a CD / DVD like Ubuntu Live CD. You can try knoppinx as I said earlier, but you hae to do the researrch on mounting and dismounting adding and deleting the partitions. You can try Creating a System image, include your recovery partition. Save your system image on another physical Hard-drive and then wipe clean the one with the problematic partition. Also you should burn your recovery DVDs because I am not sure if this is going to end up pretty. Good Luck again. Please do not forget to select the best answer if it helps you! The Computer Manual.
