Hello, All! I've posted this question to Microsoft Answers but nothing came. Now I'm trying this here. I've a hard drive with 4 drives. C:, D:, E: and F:. Windows 7 is on Drive C:. I actually want to merge drive D: with drive C:. I'm facing a problem with my D: drive. I had two Windows Actually in one PC. I had done Windows 7 in Drive C: and Windows XP in Drive D:. Then I deleted Windows XP from D: using Windows 7 but some XP files are still here in Drive D: and it's not formatting. Now I've finished Windows XP and using only 7. So in 7, Drive D: is still not formatting and still not converting to Logical Drive. Means Drive D: is still a primary partition despite of not having any Windows in it. You can see in Picture one: Picture 1: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/9602/ms1m.png You can see another picture of Drive D: that when I click Drive D: then we can see some of Windows XP's files are still in this drive. For example Windows folder, Boot folder and Recycle Bin Folder as well. So this drive is not formatting and not converting into a Logical drive. You can see in Picture 2. I do not know of any capability in Windows 7 to do what you want to do. You can search the internet for a partition utility and find one with the capability to do as you describe or you can reinstall your Windows 7. If XP was installed before win 7 d:\ will be the active partition and cannot be merged with c:\ nor can d:\ be formatted. You will need to transfer criticall system files from d:\ to c:\ before you can format d:\! Even so you may not be able to merge d;\ with c:\ sicne c:\ is a system partition. "Boot" folder is main concern and needs to be moved to c:\ win 7 partiotion.

ZERO Tolerance has some good points I missed. It looks like you have the Users folder and the WINDOWS folder on C: as well as the Boot folder. Plus the registry has critical paths listed as D: drive. So, I think the only way to combine C: & D: is to back everything up and reinstall Windows 7. I personally would not partition the drive as partitioning actually wastes space and does nothing to improve performance. Just put all your Songs in a folder. Just move the bootmgr and the boot folder to c:\. Boot store . Use bcdedit. Great tool.

I don't know how to use bcdedit tool in Windows 7. Just explore the help file for EasyBCD. You will create a new store and assign an os entry.
