Half of my programs can't connect to the internet
Half my programs can't connect to the internet? Zune Marketplace, Internet Explorer, Avast Update, Revo uninstaller Update, and a few others all are completely incapable of accessing the internet for an unknown reason. Programs such as FireFox3, Steam, and Trillian are fully able to connect. I ran some diagnostics that return a possible DNS error... But the other few times ive ran the windows diagnostic tools I get no solutions. Whats the deal? I'm almost certain it isn't my firewall, unless the settings magically change themselves. (I'm running the latest available build of Windows 7 btw.) -Thanks 28 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090406090805AAkuMIR

Hi vitamin, Strangely enough a friend of mine was having that exact same problem earlier, turns out he'd somehow been infected with something that changed his dns servers. Right click on your network connection icon in your system tray and goto Open Network and Sharing Center , then on the left side Change Adapter Settings Once opened right click on your Local area connection , or wireless depending on which you're using, goto Properties , from the list highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 and press the Properties button. If you're also infected with the same thing your DNS servers will probably be set to something like 85.255.xxx.xxx If so simply change that to Obtain DNS server address automatically and you should be good to go.

Hi vitamin yes (I'm running the latest available build of Windows 7 btw.) If you are using any version other than Build 7000, we cannot help you here. These forums only support the official beta 1 version 7000. I'm sure that you can understand the need to not mix beta versions when reporting bugs or trying to fix problems. What you see on a later interim build may no longer apply to the version we are using. Any fixes you may get here couldcause unexpected results. Please see the following thread for more detailed description of the internal builds.Windows 7 Unauthorized VersionsIf you are using the official build 7000, please ignore this message. Thanks for understanding.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie VernonForum Moderator
