Had to replace my motherboard, windows no longer genuine advantage, says it's counterfeit
Less than a year after my build, the power supply burned out and took the mainboard (along with directly attached components, I surmise) with it. I've replaced my cpu; memory; videocard and mainboard. I've kept both hard drives, and upon restarting and updating, I'm told my windows is counterfeit. How do I resolve this? I paid for my software legitimately. Thank you.

Try calling Microsoft to activate your windows installation. You may have to re-install windows since you have replaced so many things. You can also try the following. Boot from the DVD. Choose your language and click Next. Click Repair Your Computer and then select the operating system you want to repair. Click on the Start up Repair link from list of recovery tools in System Recovery Options.

Activate online if you can. If online activation does not work, use telephone activation. You will probably need to speak to an activation operator.

Hi, To activate Windows through phone, you should do the following steps. 1. Click Start button, type slui 4 and press Enter to access Windows Activation 2. Choose the location and you will see the phone number and the installation ID 3. You should enter the installation ID when you call the phone and it will give you the confirmation ID to enter. Note: You can write down the confirmation ID and then enter it for the computer.
