Hacked Vista Machine Plaqued by Rogue Group Policy
I am working on a friend's Vista laptop, had some bad virus infections. I managed to remove the virus, trojans, malware, etc but now I cannot change most settings due to the fact that it is apparently controlled by a remote group policy. I tried modifying the registry to disable group policys but now it still tells me that the policy server is unavailable so I still cannot make changes. Where in the registry are the settings I must change to remove this list of group policy servers and cause it not to think it is under the control of a group policy? To make this even more fun, it is apparently now suffering from the 'Black Screen of Death' where it seems to be booted up ok but all I get is a black screen and cursor, even in safe mode. I can get past this by using the 'sticky key' dialog to get to the file manager but that access only last 5 minutes before it blanks the screen again. I have tried some of the fixes for this that I have seen on the web but nothing seems to work.
