HP desktop running windows xp will not boot after loading Norton 360 Premier yesterday.
I'm running windows xp on an HP desktop. I'm a Norton 360 subscriber. My annual subscription was almost up so yesterday instead of just renewing, I 'upgraded' to the Norton 360 Permier V4. Everything seemed okay and I even rebooted the machine several times to make sure that everything was working properly. I shut the system down last night and when I turned it back on today it will not boot up. It stops at the screen that shows esc=boot menu; F1=setup; F10=system recovery. I contacted Norton and they had me turn the computer off and continously hit F8 as the computer comes on to try to get into safe mode but the computer never responded (I have done this numerous times now), so Norton couldn't help me. I have able to hit esc as it was coming up and "loading boot menu" shows on the screen but it never comes up. Any suggestions on what I can do?1 person needs an answerI do too

The computer is not seeing the Windows boot files at all. You will need to use a rescue disc such as a Bart's PE or Knoppix to see what is going on with Windows. Or the hard drive may have failed coincidentally. You will need to have tools, other computers, and a high level of computer skills to diagnose and resolve the problem. Probably the best next step is to take the computer to a competent local professional. This will not be a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
