HP Laptop, running Vista Home Premium, cannot identify wireless network
I recently repaired this laptop after some severe virus issues and ended up reinstalling windows. I took it to my new house and when we set up the internet and new Linksys E1000 router, it cannot connect to the internet through the network. All I get is local access and the computer telling me it's identifying the network. This is the only network it's done it on and I have no problems getting internet using any of my other devices. Also I can get internet when I hardwire it into the router using an ethernet cable. If there is anyone who can help, I'd appreciate it.

Your Connection is probablly misconfigured. Hardwire and connect. Once connected open Network and Sharing Center. Click on Customize. Click Merge or delete network connections. Highlight and remove all connections not in use. Close the 2 pages, keep Network and sharing Center open and click Manage network connections. Right click your wireless connection and click Delete. If Delete is Greyed out choose Properties. Click Configure, click Driver, click Uninstall, click OK. Do not put a check in the box "Delete the driver software for this device" If you have the Wireless Driver Software then you should delete it . Restart your computer. Reinstall wireless driver software if you deleted it. Make your new connection.

I tried this and it still does not work. The computer tells me it's attempting to identify the network and gives me local access only.
