HOW CAN I DOWNGRADE WINDOWS 8.1 to 7?

Hi,

I have installed  Windows 8.1 90 days enterprise evaluation copy but now I want to return to my older version of windows, windows 7. The evaluation copy that I have says: Build 9400 How could I downgrade back to my older version of Windows without having 90 days passed?

Please answer me,

It's really important...

I'm sorry to say that there's no direct, easy way to downgrade.  You need to have prepared fully ahead of time.

You would need to boot your Windows 7 disc and restore your full system image backup, e.g., from your external USB drive.

Your other alternative is to simply reinstall Windows 7 afresh.

Just as Noel stated, it is recommended that you plan ahead and always backup your files prior to installing a new version of Windows or upgrading your operating system.

Also, as stated from the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation page here, Following the evaluation period, you will need to replace the operating system on your test computer and reinstall all your programs and data. It is not possible to upgrade the evaluation to a licensed working version of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. A clean installation is required.

Hope this helps!

Of course it is in small print lost somewhere on the page that says you cannot downgrade back to Windows 7 from 8.1 and that it needs to be on a test computer. I lost all my pictures, files etc.... by trying the 90 day evaluation of Windows 8.1.

Just bought a new HP desktop that was preloaded with 8.1 and it makes me want to through this PC out the window! 8.1 reminds me of a bad cross version of windows ME and Vista. I'm going to attempt to install 7 Pro and if it doesn't work, then I'm taking this PC back and will be done with Windows based machines FOREVER!!!

It can be made into a nice system, powerful and stable.  But to do so takes an unprecedented amount of effort.  To make Win 8.1 as powerful as a well-tuned Win 7 is doable, with a fair bit of configuration and 3rd party software.

I didn't care for Windows 8 at first either, but right now, after all the latest updates and quite a lot of tuning I feel it's the most powerful and most stable system I've run at my company.  I just finished a 14 hour work day developing software, collaborating online, running heavy applications like Photoshop (we do graphics software development), doing research, and my system just sailed through it all with not even the slightest hiccup.

Windows 8.1 is finally mature and can (just barely) be coerced into being a damned nice desktop system.
