HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and Windows 7 question
By default, in Windows 7, does regedit allow editing of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE by using normal user account?
Thanks.

In general, a non-Administrator user account is allowed to read and write to HKEY_LOCAL_USER and to only read HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

Hi,
In general, a normal user cannot editing the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry, but the user could still to read it.
a non-administrator user has this access to the registry:
Read/Write to:
HKEY_LOCAL_USER
Read Only:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
Hope this helps
