o my computer will no longer connect to my external monitor which has a VGA outlet, whereas my computer has a HDMI output. I have an adapter and I know it works since it works fine with my mother's Windows 8 laptop, however it will not work with my Current Windows 10 computer. I have all the updates installed and I am running Windows Home version. 

Is there anything I can do? It will not "detect" my external monitor anymore? I tried checking my drives and seeing if they had updates but they all checked out fine.

May I know your PC model and specs (especially your graphic card)?

What adapter you mention earlier (HDMI to VGA converter)?

Did you try also rollback driver at device manager?

Check as well with your PC manufactured or graphic card manufactured if they have update driver

I also suggest to check with lower resolution to test and perform power cycle

If you have another HDMI output device (TV, monitor or projector) , I suggest to test connect to your PC, to make sure HDMI connector working fine
