Group Policy Preference setting not working on Win7 Sp1
I will just start it off by saying this same setting works in XP. We have separate GPOs for XP and Win7. We are installing new Windows 7 SP1 machines from MDT. Our company has a standard default web page but employees are allowed to change it so we are setting it as a run once Group Policy Preference – User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry > IE > StartPage When a new user logs into the machine, the start page is set to “about:blank”. Checking into the registry – HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main StartPage=About:Blank, but the ID for the setting is in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Group Policy\Client\RunOnce. If you delete the ID in the registry and run gpupdate, it works as expected. I found a couple of GPO related hotfixes that seem to apply to this situation (2284538) but the ones that looked promising are included with SP1. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses. Steve

Hi Miya, I had previously read the linked thread. I do not think it applies to my situation as it needed two parts to become active. 1 creating the plan and 2 applying the setting. I think as I am just trying to apply a setting it is different. Please correct me if I am misinterpreting something from the link. Steve
