Group Policy Client Services takes a long time to shutdown
I am seeing on a Windows 7 client (in a Domain) that restarts/reboots are taking a long time while Group policy Client service is trying to shutdown. I've enabled verbose logging and see the following: 10:57 user initiated restart 2 minutes later the Shell Hardware Detection Service shutdown 4minutes later the WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto Discovery service shut down 9 minutes later an entry stating "The Group policy Client service did not shut down properly after receiving a preshutdown control."

Hi, Please also check if other clients or Windows 7 clients also encounter this issue. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Ensure both the server and the clients have applied all the updates. 2. Boot the Windows 7 client to clean boot to have a check: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 3. Please also try the methods in the following Knowledge Base article: Windows shuts down slowly when it is set to clear the virtual memory pagefile on shutdown A computer stops responding during shutdown if BitLocker is enabled on the system drive on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 If the issue persists, please also check if there are any related errors in Event Log and let us know the details.
