Group Policy Client Services
Hi, I have a problem with the Amin user account. When I log onto it I get a message "Group Policy Client Services Failed The Logon" message. I can only use the computer using a standard prifile. I have read all sorts of fix's but mine is a bit different. I have tried to create a new admin profile but it tells me Im not alowed to use certain things in the name, but I have typed only letters eg: fred. I have not used any of the restricted things like /\[]";: bla bla, so thats no help. I cant use admin in safe mode either and I cant do a system restore if Im not logged in on the admin account. Reinstalling windows from my disk also has the same problem. I have Windows7 home premium 64bit. PLEASE HELP.

Hi , In most case, this Group Policy Client Services Failed The Logon issue is caused by the corrupted user profile. Have you tried to change standard user account to administrator account by adding the standard user into the Administrators group? How to Add or Remove User Accounts from Groups in Windows 7 and Vista Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. If it works, then you need to copy files to this new admin profile. You may visit this link for the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile Also, you can enable built in administrator account to perform the system restore. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/enable-disable-the-local-hidden-built-in-administrator-account-in-windows-7.aspx Hope it helps.Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support

Here we go again. When I do the command prompt thing (net user administrator /active:yes) it says "system error 5 has occured" and then it just says "access denied" Also, the other tips are for a higher W7 version, I only have W7 home premium, so I dont have access to those options. Now I'm getting frustrated. There must be a way to fix this. I dont want to format and start again for 2 reasons, 1 is obviouse and the other is that I'm stubourn and want to know how to fix it. Thanks, any more ideas? Cheers

Hi , This error message indicates you do it from a Standard account. To run the command, you should log in with an administrator account and open an elevated command prompt. If you have the administrator password, you may do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before the issue occurs and fix this for you. 1. Restore the computer. 2. Press and tap the F8 key about every second until you boot into the Advanced Boot Options screen. 3. Select Repair your computer and press Enter. 4. Select your keyboard language preferences and click on Next. 5. Select your administrator user name and type in the password, and then click on OK. If the issue persists, you could perform In-Place upgrade to repair your system.
