Group Policy Client - Services.msc

Windows 8 Pro - 64 bit

My Group Policy Client entry in Services (Local) shows "Stopped" and shows (GREYED OUT) Startup Type Automatic.  Stop, Start, Restart are all greyed out.

The computer is a member of a domain.

GFI RemoteMax monitoring is showing me that it's an error to have this stopped. I don't have a ton of Windows 8 machines so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Any help please?

Two suggestions.

1. If this is domain computer, make sure the domain group policy doesn't disable it.

2. If this is no domain computer, it could be 3dr party software issue. Please try clean boot for a test.

With MSCONFIG, you also can configure a clean boot to disable common startup

This is expected behavior. New in Windows 8, the GP Client Service will stop after 10 minutes of inactivity and will start on demand when a GP refresh cycle is due (or if you manually issue a GPUpdate.

Thanks. I'll report this to GFI.

Thanks again!

Hi Darren

My computer stops after the 10 minutes, but then stays that way and will not start again on demand.  Any suggestions?

Thanks and best regards

Yes, start a new thread. Your question has nothing to do with the original post (which has been resolved).
