old updates simply take up disk space and would not be fully responsible for a sluggish system.unfortunately, a sluggish system can be attributed to a variety of things, singularly or a combination of them. it can also be software related or attributed to the hardware or both.what you can first try is running all the microsoft tools at here: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/default.htmafterwards, we can take a look at your hardware to ascertain some idea of your system by clicking on start > run > msinfo32another method you can use is to see if performance is better in safe mode and safe mode with networking / internet connectivity.db`...>-)))> `...>-)))> share the nirvana mann

Getting rid of updates will revert your computer back tothe way it was before the updates. So, for example, with securityupdates, you will make yourself once again vulnerable to the risks theupdates removed.Ken Blake (MS MVP)
