Getting event id 55 when attempting to backup system state
I get the error below when running Commvault v8 on a Windows 7 client trying to backup system state. I've opened a tech support ticket with CommVault, but after looking at it for several days, they say that it is an OS problem. The backup phase that fails is the backup of the system protected files. The text from the CommVault log is:6948 eb4 01/26 15:01:42 131913 FsBackupTw::BackupComponentTemplate[System Protected Files]() - ---------------------------------------------------------------->>>6948 eb4 01/26 15:01:42 131913 FsBackupTw::BackupComponentTemplate[System Protected Files]() - Failed to backup [System Protected Files]6948 eb4 01/26 15:01:42 131913 FsBackupTw::BackupComponentTemplate[System Protected Files]() - ---------------------------------------------------------------->>>6948 eb4 01/26 15:01:42 131913 FsBackupTw::DoSystemStateBackup() - Critical error detected in component [System Protected Files]. Hi, According to the event log, please check if there is system files corrupted first. It's better to run the cmd.exe as administrator, and execute the following two commands: CHKDSK /R sfc /scannow After that, pleas let us know if there is corrupted system file. At the same time, you can try to backup your machine with the build-in backup function, you can try the following steps as a test.1. Open Control Panel ans start creating a backup from the Backup and Restore center.2. Select the Location in order to save backup data.3. Once you have chosen your location, you can now choose what to backup. let's shoose the option "Let me choose". Note: uncheck the option before the "Include a system image of drivers: Unnamed driver,".4. Now you can start your backup process. If this backup failed to work either, please feel let us know. If it works fine, you can use the build-in backup program to backup your system.I hope this can help you. John
