Getting Toshiba E-Studio 230 (Copier/Printer) working on win7 64-bit
I'm trying to get a Toshiba E-Studio 230 printer/copier working over a simple local network connection. I've tried with all the drivers offered on their site http://copiers.toshiba.com/support/ (except the installer which is unsuitable for widespread deployment over several PCs on the network.). Only one driver was accepted by the "add printer" wizard and it failed to work. Any ideas how to get this device working? Connection is fine - I can access the device's config page by typing in its IP address into a web browser. [Windows 7, 64-Bit]

It may be best to contact Toshiba support. This device is basically an XP device pushed to Vista with no Win 7 support by Toshiba. I would guess that the universal driver would be the best shot although that's PS3. Finally, I don't believe it will work as it did in XP with the Toshiba software. You may get it to print, use Windows Fax and Scan, but all of the other document management features will be lost without the Toshiba software.

Thanks for the reply. I just want it to print, I don't care about any other fancy features (except duplex). can I ask what does PS3 mean for a driver? I tried the universal driver and it installed fine, but the machine doesn't respond when I try to print to it.

I believe it would be Post Script 3. That's the language that the universal driver is in, correct? Anyway, I downloaded the Universal package and unzipped it to read the read me and release notes, it's clearly an XP and older driver. I could not find one on Microsoft Update Catalog. http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=toshiba%20e%20studio%20 The only other suggestion that I can offer is to connect to a computer via usb, see if it installs, and then use that driver when you try to network it. If the add a printer, networked printer isn't working then there are network configuration problems also. Just call Toshiba for a workaround. It's 1-800-go-toshi ba in the USA. Good luck.

Hi, After viewing Universal Driver: Read Me First from Toshiba site, I notice there is no specific driver for Windows 7. I suggest installing Windows 32/64 Bit PS3 Universal Driver from Toshiba site with compatibility mode. Driver Link http://copiers.toshiba.com/support/downloads.jsp?site=usa Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Method: Right click install file -> Troubleshoot compatibility -> Try recommended settings -> Start the program -> next -> save the settings. If the issue persists, try to use it in Windows XP Mode. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thanks for the replies. The download you mentioned is not an installer but a simple .inf file. I've tried using it for the printer install wizard and it goes through the steps fine. When I go to print something however, nothing happens. There is no option to install via compatibility mode as the driver is not an installer. I don't believe it's a network configuration problem as we have several other printers on the network that work without issue.
