Getting HTTP: Error 12152 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The server returned an invalid or unrecognized response.
I am getting that error 12152 when trying to connect to the internet on my desktop. It is to try and run my home network, but my desktop won't connect to the setup page for the router. I can connect on the two laptops, so I know the router is working okay. I realize there is a problem with the desktop, and I need to address this, but I have not been able to find out what it is. Short of wiping out the HD and reinstalling Windows, using a new version (currently on XP PRO, SP3, 2002. (It's a refurb unit from a school.) If I don't answer, it is because I have lost my connection, and am trying to get back to it.Mike Fisher

Hi Tracerman, 1. Check if the issue persists in safe mode with networking, to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:a. Restart the computer and press and hold F8 key (Press and hold f8 key before the windows logo).b. From the advanced boot option select ‘Safe mode’. 2. Disable any third party anti-virus installed on your computer and even the firewall. If the issue resolves after disabling the anti-virus, you might need to check the settings with the anti-virus or uninstall and re install it back. If the issue does not resolve then make sure you enable the software back.
