Get Rid of Empty Live Essentials file in Windows 7 64 bit/Home Premium
My Program List shows Windows Live Essentials. My Start menu shows that the file is empty. The 'file' in The Program List will not uninstall, and I cannot get Windows Live to install because of a file that is found on the computer.
SO: I am stuck. A tech at Asus suggested I run a registry cleaner (RegCure) but the forums here say DO NOT use a Registry Cleaner.
What do I do to get rid of the entirty of whatever is still left over of Windows Live? AS stated, I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and a 64-bit system, Asus laptop.
Thanks.

I do not understand the relevance of derosnec's reply to my question:
In the past with Vista, when I have tried to deal with Windows Live corruption (or Office, and don't even mention HP printer drivers to me), I've found there is nothing short of reloading the O/S from scratch that will 100% clear it up. Forget rolling
back, restore points, registry cleaners, anything like that. Waste of time. Makes it worse.
If you haven't invested much time and effort in your current setup, here's an idea worth trying. Create a new user profile and reinstall your stuff there. Verify it's perfect. Then delete your old (current) profile.
...Otherwise, would you consider another email client?
By the way. Had you previously installed/uninstalled Windows Live, to end up in this state? How'd things get that way?

does not work. I cannot get to a page that uninstalls. Cannot find it anywhere. I copied the instructions given on the windows live help:
what is a Search text box? (I used the Search programs and files box, but neither teh % etc nor the wlarp produced any results. Any ideas where to find these?
Windows 7
, Click Start
and type %programfiles%\Windows Live\Installer
on the Search text box
and then hit Enter
b)
Double click on
wlarp.exe and select the option
Remove one or more Windows Live programs (see left picture)
c)
Select the product(s) you want to uninstall and click on
Uninstall (see right picture)
Note:
If you select all products Windows Live Essentials will be uninstalled
d)
Follow the Onscreen instructions

Download the setup of Live again and in the installer unselect the tools you don't want and now they should be removed.
