Hello, I am trying to remove GetPrivate adware and have tried all of the normal routes: uninstall a program, task manager etc... I cannot find the program on my computer and all forums suggest free removal software, which I do not trust, or are for other versions of Windows. Please Help!

Have you tried using an anti-virus such as malewarebytes to remove it? If it's adware it should detect and remove it.

According to my experience, the advertisement software could be included in specific program.
We could try to perform a clean boot to have a troubleshoot.

If the advertisement disappeared in clean boot, we could enable the service one by one to find out the culprit. Then we can uninstall this software completely.
We also could use the Autorun tool to check for the suspicious autorun program.

As for the antivirus software, we could try the official antivirus software, it is offered for free. To improve the scanning quality, it is recommended to run it in safe mode.
