Genie-backup skipping all files due to Volume Shadow Services
Recently backups of network shares using Genie Backup Pro V8.0 on my Windows XP Home PC have begun to skipping all the files in the share. I have worked the issue through Genie Support and they have not seen the problem before. The logs suggest that VSS is not returning anything from the GBM calls made to it. Example: 01/18 11:21:48 [DB] [Info] VSS:Shadow:M:\checksums_media.md5 01/18 11:21:48 [DB] [Info] VSS:Shadow Return: 01/18 11:21:48 [DB] [Info] VSS:Shadow:M:\Pictures\camera-sent-to-server\2008\2008-04-nc-ren-faire\IMG_3295.JPG 01/18 11:21:48 [DB] [Info] VSS:Shadow Return: The blank "Return:" correspond to the skipped files. This backup has worked fine for more than a year and a half. This may not be a contributing factor, but it represents a big change since the last time backups worked properly: I recently had a hardware failure on my system that, when all was said and done, resulted in a copy of my original disk drive running on a different motherboard/CPU. Windows was re-registered properly. Any suggestions for things I can investigate to get to the bottom of this? Thanks, Greg1 person needs an answerI do too
