Full Strength Wireless Connection but No Internet Access
I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 running Windows 7 Professional 7 64-bit. I know that other posts have asked a similar question but I have been unable to resolve the issue following those threads. I have been adding access points to my Home network to improve wireless strength in my home. Using a Linksys Access Point, I have been able to connect to the internet just fine. However, I recently installed a D-Link DWL-G700AP access point with the same SSID as the Linksys Access Point. In configuring the D-Link access point, I used a static IP address. Since then, I have uninstalled the D-Link Access Point but now I cannot access the internet through my old Access Point. I find full strength wireless signal, but the wireless icon in the tray has a yellow exclamation point over it. I have tried resetting the TCPIP settings and rebooting as well as restarting the access point. I can share traces to help solve the problem but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, According to your description, I suspect this is caused by the DHCP setting. Please check whether the client already obtained an IP address. You may try to ping a public DNS name to see whether the IP address is returned. Also, you may right-click the Network Icon in the Task Tray, then hit Trouble-shoot problems to see whether the built-in tool can give any clue. This problem has nothing to do with Windows 7, It should be a network devices setting issue. So please check all the settings of these devices. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
