Friend's Computer is Messed Up. Bad.
Hi!
My friend's computer and (HPdv6-1378nr) won't start up. At all.
When you power on the computer, it says this "Enter Administrator Password or Power on Password". nothing more, nothing less. the password is not the password that he usually logs on with either, as we have tried that. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
iCactusDog
edit: here is a link to a picture of the screen if it helps at all.

You need to talk to HP. What you have is a message from the system BIOS.
This is not a Windows error and there is nothing Microsoft can do to fix the problem. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Press the enter key at the logon screen. The text
The user name or password is incorrect displays.
Click OK . The logon screen displays with the password hint directly beneath the
Password field.
You should now be able to remember your password. If you still do not remember your password, insert your password reset disk, and then click
Reset password . Follow the on-screen instructions in the Password Reset Wizard.
You can now either logon as the administrator (assuming that you have set up an administrator account and you use an individual user account), or you can reformat the hard drive and return the notebook to its original configuration.

Your information is great for the Windows password prompt, but this is the BIOS password prompt and not the Windows password prompt. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
