There are many reasons that could lead to Windows freezing up. You can first try the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

  1. Right click This PC > Manage > Device Manager.
  2. Check if any device has problem with exclamatory mark, and download this driver from the official website and install it.

If the steps above doesnt work for the issue, you can open the Task Manager to check if there is any high CPU usage or disk usage. If it does, you can use Windows Performance Recorder to record this issue and send it to us.you would better scan the virus for PC.

In addition to that, system files corrupt could also lead to the issue. We suggest you follow the steps below to troubleshoot.

1. Scan the virus for PC in safe mode because the virus may block the module of the anti-virus.

2. Use DISM and SFC tool to restore system files. Refer the link below to know how to perform.

DISM: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Hh824869.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

SFC: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

3. Use System Restore to make your Windows back to the point which normally use. Refer the link below to know how to perform System Restore.

If it doesnt help, you would better switch another USB device to check whether it is the problem of device-self.

Also, we suggest that you could send your system log and device log to us which under the path:

C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Best Regards
