Free Space wrong
i have a couple machines that seem to be reporting the wrong amount of free space in windows explorer. windows is reporting 108GB total space for the C drive. i have installed all applications we use, but when i look it shows me only 24.6GB. i ran
disk cleanup but that didnt seem to show any space that i could reclaim. next i ran the windirstat utility and it shows me only 50GB of space being used, but i cant seem to figure out where the other free space is besides the 24.6GB.
can anyone shed any light as to why it is reporting wrong? this is 64bit windows 7 professional lenovo T410s with a SSD 128GB.
any help would be appreciated.

Type size: gigantic in the Windows Explorer search box after navigating to the
C:. This will return a list of all files that occupy large amount of disk space on the volume. If you see any files like videos, movies, etc. that you don't need, delete them. If you are unsure about any file, leave it as it is.
If this does not free a lot of space then go to Programs and Features and uninstall programs that you do not need. Hope it helps!Kunal D Mehta - a Windows Server Enthusiast |

I don't smell anything particularly wrong with the OS and applications using up 80 GB of space. That's not a lot nowadays.
Is the problem you're having that you don't know what's using that space?
Scanner is a handy little tool for being able to see an overview of what space is being used in what folders:
