Error message " Windows unable to format drive"If you are trying to format C: from within Windows installed on C:,you can not do that. It's like sawing off the branch of a tree you'resitting on.What do you want to accomplish? If you want to reinstall Windowscleanly, do not try to format it first. Simply boot from the XP CDand follow the prompts for a clean installation. The cleaninstallation will begin by formatting the drive for you.Ken Blake (MS MVP)
