You haven't told us which version of Windows XP you are using. However, most versions of Win XP include a built-in administrator user account, which is usually hidden from view.If you are using Win XP Professional, boot your computer as far as the sign-in screen. Then press Ctrl/Alt/Del together. A sign-in box should appear. In the User Name field, type 'Administrator'. Leave the password field blank - and press Return. If you are using Win XP Home Edition, try booting into safe mode. Then enter 'Administrator' as the User Name. Leave the password field blank - and press Return.Hopefully, you will be able to sign into the built-in Administrator account. If so, open Control Panel and click on User Accounts. Select the account that has the lost password - and click on Change my Password. Reset the password - and also enter a password hint.Reboot your computer. This time, sign into your own user account, using the new password. "nillak" wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...Forgot my windows password. Hi,Use the command - net user <Administrator> *, by replacing the <Administrator> with the user account you want to reset the password for. But this can be done, only from a different account on the machine and that too with Administrative Privileges.Else boot the computer in Safe Mode and login using Administrator. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts and then reset the password for the user account you want to. At this instance, the wizard would not ask you for the old password. You just need to put in the new password and you are ready to go again!Saurabh Yadav | Email removed for privacy
